In remembrance of Toby Keith, I ask you: How do you like me now? The newsletter of aspiring author Mark Landon Jarvis has taken on a new direction. It's a new sensation. Right now. (How many allusions to song can I muster in one newsletter?) If this newsletter's no longer your favorite read.... we're still friends, even if you Unsubscribe And now, the new features...Something helpful: Otter, my favorite app, allows me to capture audio of my ideas AND exports a text file of it, too. The free version records up to 600 minutes a month. Use it like a super sleuth and record meetings and sneaky conversations on the sly (not really! I mean, that's probably illegal, isn't it? probably? I'd never do that.). Capture and share your life story. Your grocery list. A love song. I use it when I interview people for my other newsletter and sometimes for other productivity hacks. You Otter get it! Something new: Advances in AI are hard to keep up with. Recently, generative AI has made it possible to even create video. Are you still new to things? Try https://poe.com/ and toy with tools in the upper left (under Explore). Something borrowed: (and old, for that matter, from 2019)...A great article about why authors are judgmental about sci-fi. I wrote my own defense of the genre on my blog recently, too. Stand up for science fiction. Think of all the innovations Star Trek anticipated! Bluetooth Headphones, 3-d printers, video calls, tablets, flip phones... Something blue: One of my very favorite percussion groups: The Blue Man Group. I've only seen them twice in concert. If I lived where they are performing in residence, I'd have to join the crew or else I'd spend all my money. So fun, so funny, so talented! Why something blue? Those of you who know my novels know of something very significant and blue. What is it? Show off and write back with your answer and thoughts on that recurring blue thingy. I'm trimming down. The Thursday Treasure Trove was getting all stopped up in some people's email systems from graphics, backgrounds, strings and things like ceiling wax and other fancy stuff. Also, several subscribers suggested a new issue every-two-weeks (fortnightly) as the sweet spot for frequency. Weekly led to weak tea, and monthly made it altogether too forgettable. But wait, there's more...MarkLandonJarvis.com, my website, is the long-play version of everything, including my blog, shortcuts, insights, and discounts. I'll be hosting book reviews at length over yonder, sometimes linking them from this newsletter, like this. Read my review of M.A. Rothman's Multiverse. I think my reviews should all be from my 'sleepy reader' perspective. Lol. Final Fix: Some of you are here for your fix, your (now fortnightly) tidbit from my writing. This chapter is from a book I've been writing this month. It's to serve as an on-ramp, a loss leader, a way into the series from any angle. That book is still unnamed. I've redacted some names, but otherwise, I hope this chapter won't have any spoilers. You be the judge. Chapter 11 Hey, Nonny-Nonny.docx

MARK LANDON JARVIS Treasure Trove Newsletter Great news in Science-Fiction and a Freebie just for you. What's Up? Spring Break. Let me first say, it ain't what it used to be. My Spring Break has been doctor's appointments and handyman work around the house. No Cabo or Daytona for this old man. Spring Break has afforded me the luxury of sleeping in until 7am, a time or two. On a subzero, wind-chill morning, I didn’t feel guilty about skipping the walk with my beagle. That’s the full extent of...
MARK LANDON JARVIS Brave Tomorrows, Together YESTERDAY was my two week's notice. That is, yesterday I was to hit send on my (sometimes) fortnightly newsletter. Friends tell me to set an alarm in my calendar. (That would require me to remember something else to do!) My wife tells me to pull my head out of....the sand. Anyway, here's the latest installment. AUDIO BOOKS There's no reason you should know/care about this particularly, since you're likely a consumer and not a producer of audio...
Author newsletters need to be more honest. Writing's difficult and lonely. It's worth it when you read this newsletter. (I need a graphic artist!) This is the second Thursday in January '25 and a long while since my last newsletter was issued. I welcome myself back. I welcome you back. You'll want to read this one, click something. It'll make me feel good and you'll gain something for yourself along the way. [Gads, 50 words spent already!] I don't wrestle with many demons in my newsletter. I...
